A One-day Workshop led by the composer, Bob Chilcott.

Described by the Observer newspaper as “a contemporary hero of British choral music”, Bob Chilcott has always been immersed in the choral tradition of his country. He sang as a chorister and choral scholar at King’s College, Cambridge, and after singing professionally in London and also as a member of the vocal group the King’s Singers for 12 years, he became a full-time composer in 1997. He has embraced his career with energy and commitment, not only producing a large catalogue of music for all types of choirs, but also working with singers and choirs in more than 30 countries.


9.00am – 10.00am Arrival and Registration
Singers to register, collect loan music and be seated.
10.00am – 11.15pm Session #1
11.15am – 11.45pm Break
Tea/coffee will be served
11.45pm – 1.00pm Session #2
1.00pm – 2.00pm LUNCH
There are plenty of local cafes nearby, serving drinks and snacks; alternatively singers are welcome to bring packed lunches and eat them in the hall.
2.00pm – 3.15pm Session #3
3.15pm – 3.45pm Break
Tea/coffee will be served
3.45pm – 4.30pm Informal performance

The workshop will be held at St Mary’s Creative Space, St Mary’s Hill, Chester, CH1 2DW. This is easily reached by PR1 Park and Ride from the Wrexham Road CH4 9DE Park & Ride or Upton (Zoo) CH2 4BA Park & Ride. Buses are every 12 minutes until 7.00pm for £2 all day return.

The nearest car parking is at Chester Castle (Crown Court) CH1 2DN – currently £5.50 all day on Saturdays. The next nearest is Little Roodee, CH1 1SL – currently £5.80 for over six hours.


Workshop fee £22 (£10 for under 19s and students in full time education)

This cost includes loan of music also tea/coffee in the breaks.

The music will also be available for purchase from the publisher on the day.
