Nominated Charity

Each year the members of Chester Bach Singers nominate a charity local to the Chester area to support throughout the season. We support the nominated charity through retiring collections, especially at our Carol Concerts around Christmas, but also through other fundraising events including sponsored walks, cake bakes, bring and buy sales, and many others.

The nominated good cause for the 2018/19 season is:

Chester Terrapins is a specialist swimming club for people with disabilities who enjoy swimming in supported surroundings. There are currently (July 2018) about 40 members, with ages ranging from around 8 to 60. Swimming sessions are held in the training pool at Chester Northgate Arena, on Mondays (except bank holidays) from 7.15 until 8.30pm and although not everybody comes each week, there is always a good mix of people training hard, having a gentle swim or simply enjoying the water and the company.

Terrapins relies mainly on donations and weekly subscriptions to finance its activities. The charges are just £3.50 per week for adults and £2 for juniors (16 and under).

Previous nominated charities have included:

2017/18 Chester Aid to the Homeless
2016/17 Alzheimer’s Society Singing for the Brain
2015/16 Neuro Therapy Centre Choir – Movers ‘n’ Shakers
2014/15 Wirral Hospice St John’s
